Richard was the core for Floyd in my opinion. You got Waters with the lyrics and David with the guitar and Mason with the drums I mean all of them are just as important but Richard had the most important part in my opinion.
@@Jok3er271 I agree, he was the musical core. The compositional richness that set Pink Floyd apart from the rest of rock/prog/pop bands of that time, that was Rick Wright. Now couple that with the innovation and sheer lyrical power of Waters, and the (IMHO as a guitar player) unparalleled feel of Gilmour's guitar playing, and you have a band that seems, in this modern age, something like the pinnacle of popular music.
I’ve been doing some thinking recently about this channel and a thought popped into my mind overnight. It’s been a really interesting journey sharing my love of the piano with everyone all over the world. It still trips me out that I spend an afternoon recording a track (it has to be the afternoon for those curious about the process, as the piano is lit by natural light - it’s best between 1pm - 4pm in the room that I’m recording in), sitting by myself in front of a piano in my music school, and that people from all over the world get to experience a very private moment of my creative process. What I find particularly interesting though is when I listen back to these interpretations, there’s a pretty strong disconnect between playing/recording the tracks and hearing them back. Without a drop of ego, I personally enjoy listening to these tracks either late at night to help me fall asleep, occasionally in the morning when I wake up to find some more motivation about working on my Radiohead songbook, but my favourite time would definitely be when I’m travelling, especially in airports or on planes, and also on public transport. As there are a lot of returning subscribers and listeners on this channel, my question to you is this: Where and when do you listen to these tracks? What are you doing? Working? Studying? Travelling? Eating breakfast? Passing out? What time of day is it? What do you see? How does it make you feel? I’d be very curious to hear your thoughts, so hit me up. What I'd love even more is a picture of where you are when you are watching these clips. Email them to me at hello [at] joshcohenmusic [dot] com and with your permission, I'd love to share them with everyone. As always, thanks for supporting the channel and for incorporating this music into your lives. Man, the internet blows my mind sometimes x
I listen your tracks when i'm studying or sleeping,i'm learning piano so.. you are my inspiration to continue in this incredible universe called Music, thank you very much Josh!! sorry for my english.
These tracks are just perfect anytime, when i feel lonely or sad or something like that. They intensify those feelings really heavy. So thank you for them all. Your Karma Police rendition is incredible. Sometimes it feels like i can see your emotions in your hands, which is really incredible.
When and where? Being honest, anytime I can, specially when I need to think or "stop" thinking. I repeat the same songs over and over. I've always loved listening to piano, I even learned when I was little, but then I realised it wasn't my thing. I love listening your tracks, makes me even want to play the piano again. Thank you :) don't stop "making". Greetings from Venezuela
Late afternoon here. Just looking through my photos of the last partial eclipse we had in the UK to show someone in the US via Discourse what kind of results you get with pinhole cameras (not great), various filters, and through cloud (because Britain). Edit: Forgot to say - totally great playing, Josh!
Strange sensation to feel and hear Clare Torry's voice while you play the piano. You probably added more than soul in this compo... Congratulations, it is a masterpiece!
I love how you are able to change the song a lot in order to make your own version but still conserving its soul. They are beautiful, thank you for sharing them.
im in my room, bored as hell, i see angels coming down with a music box playing this absolutely beautiful cover of The Great Gig In The Sky. This is not even sarcasm. i feel like all my problems and stress have just faded away for this 9 minute heavenly video. Josh, seriously, your music is a drug. it just transports me to other places ive never been. Your understanding of music theory and piano playing skill is so astonishing that my last wish would be for you to serenade me to my eternal sleep. This is not a joke comment. I am not on drugs. I just appreciate extremely excellent music. Hope this made you feel some sort of way :)
Think? Based on the videos I've seen, I'm sure you can haha I know it's gonna take some time due to the length of the song though, but I'd love to hear you play it
This literally has melted all my fears away. I'm sitting on a bus and am anxious about a choir competition that is happening in a few hours. I'm scared but this gives me hope. Don't ever stop playing these beautiful piano covers! Love your creativity! Keep it up!
01:30 - 01:37 That harmony, right there... the resonance.. I've always thought it was done on the record with a backing guitar o a slide or something else. It was just the piano.
Who else is listening this song more than once in a day ? THE COVER IS TOP I WISH TO PLAY PIANO AS YOU DO. I wish to learn how to play to perform your cover
Es un hermosa interpretación. Felicitaciones desde Bueno Aires. It's a beautiful interpretation. Great job! The song has filled me with beautiful sensations!
A few years that i can't help listening (so many time) to such a good job you made Josh. Thanks from Paris. Thanks for existing. Thanks you tube too off course.
I'm sitting in my wooden room, door is open and also hear sound of trees and rain. I am so glad that you've made this wonderful cover of Pink Floyd's one the most sensual songs. Thank you!
Holy crap, I love this song and never would have thought it possible to do justice to it by any single instrument, no matter how talented the player. Yet, you nailed it. Unbelievable. Thanks.
Wow Josh, this is unbelievable. Its just superb and gets me every time. I listen to this when compiling some work notes, my mind flows better and my pen moves quicker. Keep up the great covers, Thanks Gareth Ireland.
Josh I hope you see this. I, and plenty others I'm sure, would love a good cover of "The Rain Song" by Led Zeppelin. In the same way that Radiohead so beautifully suits your playing style, so would this. The song deserves your magic.
Absolutely wonderful! Thanks for sharing. I got shivers as you went into that pause at around 2 mins or so into the video! Maybe anticipating the vocals on the original! That silence was intense! Best wishes...
THIS SONG TOOK ME BACK 30 YEARS, GRIFFIT OBSERVATORY, LOS ANGELES, LASER SHOW, THE DOME OVERHEAD, AND SUDDENLY THERE WAS A JOINT LIT READY TO GO......WHAT A TRIP! THANKS, JOSH!
Have you considered putting your covers on spotify/soundcloud? I really love all your covers, but when I'm on the go then it's not very convenient to listen on youtube, so for me at least it would be very cool if you decided to do so.
Hey Bob Marley - love your music! I've thought about it and will probably do so in 2018. I plan on releasing an album of Radiohead tracks alongside my songbook, but am just feeling a little reticent as to the best way to play it all out. I would like to eventually move these tracks on to Spotify as some stage. Unfortunately, it's not as easy as I would need to obtain the rights to release the tracks.

Josh, this is a fabulous cover and I love your ad lib moments....the intro was glorious!! I also love the way you reconnected that idea near the end. I enjoyed every second of this! Love the big pause before "the voices" Yes!!! BRAVO!!! ~Jackie
Hold up! How did you capture the woman's voice and emotion on the keys? This is the best cover I've ever heard. Her voice makes this piece different and you captured all that somehow. Thanks for your time and sharing.😊
If you look closely, you can see his piano shaking as the music picks up! That's how you know you're playing the song right! Loved this cover, it had the same emotional feeling as the original. Cheers!

As a hobbyist/aspiring pianist myself your music really takes me to another place and makes me not only want to play, but find my own musical voice. You've definitely found yours and it's a voice I love hearing. Please keep the Pink Floyd coming
Absolutely beautiful! I'll say it again: Keep the Floyd coming... and may I suggest Brain damage into Eclipse for a future entry? :p You've gained a fan!

Masterpieces them all ..on another level all together..such emotion depicted in every single note that carrys you ...shear brilliance ..top of my list anytime of day
It doesn't get better than this... This is why I never watch TV... To watch and hear this masterpiece who cares about crap TV /// thank you tube for sharing ...TV for garbage and talent for Here..
I've just discovered your channel, Josh, and I'm blown away by your covers. It also inspires me to keep working and practicing, as I play the piano too and I would like to create my own stuff, whether it's arrangements or directly my own music. All I have to say is thank you for sharing with us your love of the piano and your talent! I will definitely check your other videos and hope they amaze me as much as this one did. Kind regards from Spain!

I don't think there's any reason to be afraid of anything as long as you have this music.
WOOOOHOOAAOOH AAAAAAAAAAH YEAAAAAAAH
I must say that I really appreciate these Pink Floyd covers

Masterpieces them all ..on another level all together..such emotion depicted in every single note that carrys you ...shear brilliance ..top of my list anytime of day
Reading some other comments,
I wonder if the original artists are aware of this interpretation ? ....
It doesn't get better than this... This is why I never watch TV... To watch and hear this masterpiece who cares about crap TV /// thank you tube for sharing ...TV for garbage and talent for Here..

Haha the singer was actually white . Everyone just imagines a black lady singing it.
We all did hahaha, fun fact
am so amazed by the way you played this song. that pause and entrance was amazing. I could not stop watching great work!
Please cover a Jeff buckley song, like "Lover" or "Vancouver"
Awesome channel
"Lover" would be great, or mojo pin
Thanks for the request, Luciano 😃
It's so stunningly impressive no words are needed to feel every emotion, every scream and every haunting emotion...
What kind of piano are you playing?
It's a Kawai RX-5.
I hear it mostly when I am studying, and what amazes me other than your skill is your choice of the tunes you are covering.. keep the great work!
can you do radiohead - creep next?
Thanks for the request 😄
Please no. Radiohead has so many other amazing songs.
